Foleys
Department Store, El Paso, TX
This
major expansion project included taking an existing
1970’s era, 125,000 square foot building and converting
it to a new 200,000 square foot flagship Foleys Department
Store.
Day Construction demonstrated their exceptional communication
and leadership abilities on this project, which was
on a rigorous schedule. The initial challenge was to
bring the existing building up to code and add a penthouse
in the first 60 days. Next, to save fabrication time,
Day Construction designed the steel for the new addition
on site so available, prefabricated material could be
used to tie into the existing shell. This ensured the
store opening 10 months after starting construction.
To
provide real-time information sharing, the project administration,
minutes of the meetings, and the RFI and Change Process
were transmitted, via the internet, to Day Construction’s
Project Management System. Drawing on the team’s
collective experience and expertise, Day Construction
delivered the Certificate of Occupancy three weeks ahead
of schedule.
